DBA vs Data Architect
上个星期, CIO突然发了个开大会的通知. 本来我们每个季度才开一次会, 这次中间加了一个让大家猜测了多种可能, 要不就是裁员, 要不就是重组. 人心惶惶了几天后, 终于到了开会的时候, 原来是重组. 好玩的是, 原来operation的director跟管开发的director对掉了一下位置. 不过我还是留在了operation里, 有了个新老板, 组名也变成了Data Architecture. 将来究竟如何就不知道了. 不过做了好几年DBA后, 改做Data Architect, 对我来说到是有点新鲜.

我要研究研究你是什么公司，这么多人，待遇一定不错哦！ 我们公司还没有CIO呢，两个IT 两Team网络，硬件部和软件部，还都是负责全球的业务！

我现在的单位不大啦, 不过最近要做一个25M的一个项目, 要招兵买马. 以前我在CIBC做了好几年.
我也一直想找个全球性的公司, 找个机会回国出差. 可惜没机会. 咳, 这回的机票还要自己掏.

另外, 我一直想好好学一下ORACLE FINANCIAL, 但就是静不下来心学习. 感觉里面的东西太多了, 无从下手. 现在TECHNOLOGY那些到是大概看过一些, BUSINESS方面的东西就懂得太少了. SEAN有没有什么建议?

我也没有怎么学过，就是整天跟着那些财务大妈瞎混，她们整天吵闹，说什么invoice不能match PO；Receipt收到后要核对invoice，为什么invoice没有；Sales Order没有release 出来，是谁把客户hold住啦；发送定单时，没有找到库；我就坐在她们周围，慢慢听懂了怎么回事。还有个大妈，2年多钱，整天打电话催款，听听英语也蛮长进的，外加我人缘好，那些大妈都喜欢把那些东西从头到尾说一边怎么回事，时间长了，那些流程就知道了。
其实，也是瞎说，如果自己不长个心眼的话，你是学不到东西，我老板整天骂我，一点小事，明明可以就地解决的，偏要绕一大圈子，怎么说？比如说，他们要求我修改Report,要在原有的报表上显示出附加的东西，我就乘机跑过去，跟做业务的人聊天，这个Report派什么用啊，修改的意义是什么啊，我怎么证明修改是准确的，哪里去确认，什么什么的。很多东西就是这么慢慢积累下来了。还有，我老板很多东西都不让我做，说我不懂得，也别管它，我暗地里偷偷的学，至少我看到了别人是怎么做的，很多时候，我发觉他们做的东西并不是很恰当，不过，我是不便于插手。当然，要是老板给我东西做，我是从来都没有推过，好像，SOX测试，对我来说，就是一个很好的学习机会，很多人惊讶说，你不是做IT的，怎么财务做的东西，你都做，我想，有能力学的时候，还是多学点。 不过，我是不愿意做在教室里的！！！

说起出差，我们公司哪个人没有去过中国，台湾，韩国，日本。我的搭档还两次去了印度一个多月，条件是老板给他买中途转回家的飞机票。就是我没有动过！天天守住那个该死的服务器！老板说，那个服务器就是你的财产，不可以出一点点问题！

说得有理啊, 以后要多去泡泡财务的MM, 跟大妈们也得搞好关系. 只有整天接触才能学到东西.

Thanks in advance. I may need one once the upgrade project picks up. We are now running on 11.5.8 and plan to upgrade to 11.5.10.

We have so much politics here in my company, originally, my boss is the only one manager looking after the Oracle here in Toronto. However, our HQ is in San Jose, we found the replacement for IT director position last Sept. Then he brought his people in, the lady set another team up and took part of my boss job over. She has DBA background. My boss has Financial background. So she wants show-off her importance, therefore, she hires some contractors there in San Jose and initiates a project to upgrade our system from 11.5.9 to 11.5.10. I am so confused, I am the production DBA. If I am not involved, are they going to move our production system back to San Jose???
The system was originally in San Jose, my boss joined the company. 2 years after, he raised project upgrading the system from 11.0.3 to 11.5.9 and took that chance move the system from US to Canada. It does make sense, because Canada is our Financial center. our CFO is originally from Toronto.
